THE ART SALON
COMMITTEE BOARD
The ArtSalon offers artists from diverse disciplines a platform to share their work and creative process with the public through Pecha Kucha (pronounced peh-chak-cha)–style presentations. In this fast-paced format, four to five artists each present for six to eight minutes, followed by an open Q&A with the audience. This ongoing series of live presentations celebrates creativity, process, and finished work—highlighting the vitality of contemporary visual arts in Western Massachusetts. Join artists, creators, critics, and collectors for an evening of lively conversation and community engagement around the arts!
Like many live events in 2020, The ArtSalon paused its in-person gatherings due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In response, the series introduced UP CLOSE, a film project created by videographer Nick Verdi. UP CLOSE brings viewers inside the studios of Valley artists through intimate tours and curator-led interviews, offering a cinematic glimpse into their creative worlds.
In February 2022, The ArtSalon triumphantly returned to live programming with a vibrant, sold-out event at 33 Hawley in downtown Northampton. Since then, the series has continued its momentum, hosting four salons per year at rotating venues throughout the Valley—each one a celebration of artistic expression, dialogue, and community connection.
